About the Hotel
Nearly Four Decades of Distinction
London City Hotel & Resort opened its doors in the autumn of 1987, in the very building that once housed the Mayfair offices of a celebrated publishing house. The founders — a trio of hoteliers who had trained across Europe's finest establishments — shared a singular vision: to create a London hotel that felt like a private home, yet delivered the service of a palace.
Over the decades, the property has welcomed royalty, acclaimed artists, heads of state and the world's most discerning travellers. Our guest list reads like a chapter of London's cultural history — and we intend to keep adding to it.
In 2008, following an award-winning renovation by Mayfair-based interior architect Studio Alberton, the hotel underwent its most significant transformation — expanding to 148 rooms and introducing the Private Entertainment Floor, which has since become the city's most sought-after members experience.
What We Stand For
Every decision at London City Hotel & Resort is guided by three commitments that have never wavered.
Immaculate Service
We believe service is not a department — it is a disposition. Every member of our 240-strong team is trained to anticipate needs before they are expressed.
Heritage & Craft
Our listed building is maintained with the same reverence as when it was first constructed. Every restoration honours the original craftsmen's intentions.
Discretion Always
Privacy is not just a policy at London City Hotel & Resort — it is a culture. Your stay, your identity and your preferences remain your own.
A Georgian Masterpiece, Reimagined
The building at 47 Brook Street is one of Mayfair's finest surviving examples of early Georgian architecture. The original facade — its Portland stone columns, sash windows and decorative ironwork — has been meticulously preserved and cleaned to its original splendour.
Step inside, however, and tradition meets modernity in perfect dialogue. Italian marble floors, bespoke wallcoverings from de Gournay, custom lighting designed by Astro Lighting, and a staircase that took a team of Florentine artisans fourteen months to restore.
Our interiors have featured in Architectural Digest, Condé Nast Traveller and The World of Interiors — and were awarded the Historic England Certificate of Excellence in 2019.
